Pedro Benavente, El Indio Professional dancer, choreographer and tango teacher.

Over the 80s he was a part of the Ballet Brandsen de Folclore y Tango performing in the “Tango Tango” show together with high-level dancers as Juan Carlos Copes and María Nieves.
In 1990 he was selected by casting by Santiago Ayala “El Chúcaro” and Norma Viola to be a member of the Ballet Nacional Folclórico.
In the same year he was invited to tour Canada where he performed in a number of shows and, while been there, he studied at the Dance Studio West and the Decidedly Jazz, both in Calgary.
In 1992 he was casted by “The Dinzels” (Rodolfo and Gloria Dinzelbacher, members of “Tango Argentino”) to be a part of the main cast of “El Viejo Almacén”.
In September that year he was invited by the Bolshoi Ballet of Moscow to work together with one of the top leading ballerinas, Ilze Liepa, in a production by Andris Liepa (first dancer of the Bolshoi and the Kirov; both Liepas are the children of Marius Liepa) in Bolshoi and Chaikovski theaters at Moscow, in the Opera House of Tbilisi (Georgia) and two years later in the Gran Rex theater of Buenos Aires. Studying with the same Ballet he made significant breakthrough in contemporary dance.
During the 90s he took part in tango films produced by “Solo Tango”, the Italian RAI and CNN. He made photo productions for magazines such as Vogue Spain, Esquire New York, Amica Italy. In 1993 he was casted, together with Dolores Echenique, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers for their first show at the Obras Sanitarias Stadium of Buenos Aires.
In those years he started developing his strong inclination towards social activities: street art shows, organization of neighborhood spaces and popular milongas, work at schools and poor neighborhoods, etc.
Since 1995 he works all around Argentina and in nearby countries together with well-known Argentinean artists such as Mercedes Sosa, León Gieco, Víctor Heredia, Hamlet Lima Quintana, Raúl Carnota and Suna Rocha. He took part in a number of national and international festivals, among wich: National Folklore Festival at Cosquín, Province of Córdoba; Yerba Mate Festival at Oberá, Province of Misiones; Littoral Music Festival at Posadas, Province of Misiones; Chamamé Festival at Federal, Province of Entre Ríos; Folklore Festival at Salta; Wheat Festival at Leones, Province of Córdoba; Plantain Festival at Clorinda, Province of Formosa; Friendship Festival at Río Gallegos, Province of Santa Cruz; Native Song Festival at Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil; Folklore Festival at Ypacarai, Paraguay; Vintage Festival in Chile; Folklore Festival in Bolivia; Hispanic Festival at Miami, USA.
In 2001, together with Verónica Litvak, Marina Svartzman, Claudia Sánchez, Paula Ferrío and José Garófalo, he created the first group and movement of tango theater, Tango Protesta, wich they showed in many places such as milongas, recycled factories, soup kitchens, Teatro por la Identidad and the Universidad Popular Madres de Plaza de Mayo (Popular University Mothers of Plaza de Mayo). The group was funded by diverse sources and their shows were presented both in Argentina and worldwide.
Between 2004 and 2007 he also worked in spaces generated by independent tango orchestras, such as the CAFF of the Orquesta Típica Fernández Fierro, Orsai of Astillero and La milonga de Fervor at the Teatro Verdi, of the Orquesta Típica Fervor de Buenos Aires.
Today he is working at La milonga del Indio, a popular free space on the streets that he himself created 15 years ago. This milonga takes place every Sunday outdoors at the Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo, Buenos Aires. La milonga del Indio was declared in 2008 Historic Patrimony of the City of Buenos Aires and there is a project to also declare it an issue of Cultural Interest for the City Government. In 2009 it was one of the venues where took place the Seventh Dance Championship of the City, where the winners of the Milonga and Waltz category were the representatives of La milonga del Indio, Lida Mantovani and Cristhian Sosa.
He is also a teacher at the “Escuela Argentina de Tango” of the Borges Cultural Centre and tango professor at “La Catedral”.
In 2009 he was a jury in the Seventh World Dance Championship in the Tango Salón category, in La Trastienda.
His main present project is TANGOLAB, where he is the creator and the general manager.
Santiago Bouso

Since he was very young he approaches tango and attends a great number of concerts guided by many musician friends. This explains why he approached the milongas environment in 2004. In 2006 he worked with a group of orchestras united by common projects, the UOT (Unión de Orquestas Típicas), performing all type of cultural management tasks. In 2007 he worked specifically for one of those orchestras, the Orquesta Típica Fervor de Buenos Aires, performing as their general assistant and traveling with them in their tours (Europe 2007, Montevideo 2007).
In 2008 he worked for the Tango Houses “Esquina Carlos Gardel” and “Tango Porteño” and started the career of Events Organization at COE (Centro de Organizadores de Eventos). He is presently completing this career and has been invited by Pedro Benavente, el Indio, to take part in the TANGOLAB project.
